Doncaster ran in 18 tries as they defeated West Wales Raiders 102-6 at the LD Nutrition Stadium in Featherstone.
Richard Horne’s side headed into this afternoon’s game on the back of a 31-16 loss to the York City Knights who currently sit second in the Betfred League One table.
Doncaster fullback Liam Harris got the game underway in the baking West Yorkshire heat, the Raiders didn’t let their 102-6 defeat to Oldham get in their minds though as they started off the better defensive side.
Another chance was presented to the Dons as Jason Tali worked his way down the left hand wing but was deemed in touch by the on field official.
However, Doncaster soon took the lead thanks to Richard Owen who found a well worked pass to stroll over and make it 4-0 to the South Yorkshire side.
The Dons soon doubled their lead though as Hull duel regee and stand in fullback Liam Harris touched down in front of the posts. Australian Jordie Hedges kicked his first conversion of the game to make it 10-0.
Jordan Howden then made it 14-0 just seconds later when he sprinted away from the Raiders defence to touch down in the right hand corner. Hedges converts Dons 16 – Raiders 0.
Former Featherstone second rower Frankie Mariano then scored Doncaster fourth try of the afternoon, barging his way through the Raiders defensive line stretching out to score. Dons 20 – Raiders 0.
Doncaster’s very own Kyle Kesik made it 24-0 moments later when he crashed over the line with the greatest of ease. Harris converts 26-0.
West Wales Raiders got themselves on the scoresheet with just over ten minutes of the first half to go when they capitalised on a Doncaster error. It was former Gloucestershire All Golds captain Steven Parry who barged his way over to make it 26-4.
Sam Doherty extended Doncaster’s lead moments later intercepting a rogue Raiders pass and ran 60 metres down field to score. 30-6.
Frankie Mariano scored his second of the afternoon soon after Doherty’s last try managing to get the ball over the line on the left hand side to make it 36-6.
Hull FC’s Jez Litten then scored one of the tries of the afternoon, side stepping multiple Raiders defenders to make it 40-6.
Half Time : Doncaster 42 – West Wales 6.
Litten grabbed his second of the game within the first minute of the second half, fighting his way past the Raiders defence and putting on the afterburners to score. Harris converts 48-6.
Liam Harris brought Doncaster to a half century of points when he sprinted through the Wales back line to make it 52-6.
Brad England scored Doncaster’s eleventh try of the afternoon moments later diving over to make it 58-6 with Harris converting to make it 60-6.
The first hat-trick of the game came from Jez Litten who put in a piece of showboating to cross over and increase Doncaster’s lead to 66-6.
Litten then turned from scorer to provider as Jordie Hedges darted across the field to make it 70-6.
Cameron Scott grabbed Doncaster’s 14th try of the afternoon and Liam Harris converted to bring himself within three points off breaking Doncaster’s points scored in a game record. Dons 78 – Raiders 6.
Russ Spiers then brought up 80 points for the Dons with just over twenty minutes to go of the game. Harris converts 84-6.
Kyle Kesik then scored his second of the game to make it 88-6. Harris converts 90-6.
Jason Muranka then touched down for Doncaster once again to bring them within four points of a century. Dons 96 – Raiders 06.
Aaron Jones Bishop brought up a century of points for Doncaster as he collected a well placed kick from Liam Harris to march over. Dons 100 – Raiders 6.
