York City Knights coach James Ford has admitted that his side will take one game at a time as they apply pressure on Betfred League One leaders Bradford.
The Bulls sit at the top of the table but only on points difference ahead of the Knights trip to the West Wales Raiders. But despite facing a side they defeated 144-0 earlier in the season, Ford knows his side have to take it easy in the coming weeks.
“We can’t control how well or how badly Bradford play or how well teams play against Bradford,” said Ford.
“We can’t control referees or the weather or how well teams play against us.
“What we can do is make sure our preparation is as thorough as ever and that on the field we play as well as we can.
“We have to concentrate on what we can control and on leaving no stone unturned and being the best we can be every week.”
Before the season started Bradford were favourites to claim the League One title having been relegated from the Betfred Championship last season having gone into administration. The challenge that York have faced has been huge with the Knights main aim keeping themselves within the Bulls reach.
“Bradford have been big favourites all season and were big favourites before the season started. I don’t think that has changed,” added Ford.
“We’ve been good enough to be level on points with them at the minute.
“I would say all the pressure is on Bradford. Everyone expected them to run away with the league at the start of the season.
“We’re just taking it one game at a time and will try to keep improving. We’re trying to be as good as we can be each week.”
